Meet the Manufacturer, the conference and sourcing event that is the showcase for the return of fashion and textiles manufacturing to the UK, is going from strength to strength. Now in its third year, the next event takes place on 25 and 26 May 2016 at The Old Truman Brewery, London.
With a growing demand for UK-made clothing and an increased interest in a made in Britain label, next year’s Meet the Manufacturer event promises to be bigger and better than ever with double the amount of space at 50,000 sq ft to accommodate more stands in the exhibition and more workshops and seminars than in previous years. Meet the Manufacturer will showcase over 100 of the best British clothing manufacturers, textile mills, leather-goods makers and suppliers to the UK apparel and textile industry.
Kate Hills, founder and CEO of Make it British, which organises the event, says: “Meet the Manufacturer is a platform for leading industry figures to come together to support UK manufacturing and for buyers and designers to find textile and garment production in the UK. There’s an air of confidence in the industry at the moment and ‘made in Britain’ is back in fashion but the debate continues that whilst in theory it’s possible to make anything here, a lot needs to be done in terms of investment, education, public perception and good old fashioned hard work and ambition.”
Organised by Make it British – the website dedicated to UK manufacturing – ‘Meet the Manufacturer’ is the only major sourcing event specifically for British manufacturers of clothing, textiles and leather goods.
