Managing Partner, Steff McGrath, introduces her luxury lingerie brand, Something Wicked and explains how they make their own product to order and can offer a high-quality lingerie sampling service for start-up brands.
Could you introduce your business?
Something Wicked is an independent British brand. All our luxury lingerie and accessories are carefully handmade in the UK using the most exquisite materials such as Japanese plonge leather.
Amidst today’s fast fashion market, we provide a more sustainable, more unique service. Never off-the-rack, every piece is made to order. Slip into our lingerie, and you’ll feel as sensational as you look, knowing every detail has been composed with as much care, forethought and integrity as possible. And as we make to order, we have no minimum order requirements which makes it flexible for stockists.
Our lingerie is made from start to finish by our team of skilled seamstresses, based in a mill building at the heart of the old textiles industry in Leeds.
Our beautiful leather accessories are handmade by an incredible female saddler in the UK, our wax leather polish is handmade by an award-winning beekeeper from London using 100% natural ingredients.
Even our luxury gift boxes come from an ethical British packaging company. Run by women, made by women, for the empowerment of women.
What product or service are you most excited about showing at Make it British Live!
Our stunning luxury lingerie. We’d also love to discuss how we can sample and manufacture for you.
Who are you looking forward to meeting and connecting with at Make it British Live!
We are keen to work with start-ups or new businesses who are looking for a flexible way of working with a manufacturer who can provide design/sampling/small run production, but who is not going to ask you to commit to large production quantities. We’d also love to meet anyone who is interested in stocking a luxury British made lingerie brand.
Why do you think it’s important to support made in the UK?
Our brand does just as well overseas as it does in the UK, as people see the fact that a product has been made here as a sign of quality. If something has been handmade in the UK, you know that the person making it has been treated and paid fairly.
